Get an Overview of All Projects
In the project overview, you can see all projects that are visible to you. You can switch between List and Timeline view - depending on whether you prefer table logic or timeline logic.
You can customize the overview by sorting, grouping, and using saved filters.
The Project List
You can access the project overview from the main menu and then click on Projects. In the overview, you'll see a list of all projects that are visible to you.
All projects are sorted alphabetically. The sorting order works like this:
- Special characters come before numbers and letters
- Underscore comes before hyphen
- Numbers come before letters
Actions on Projects
When you hover over a project row, an action button appears next to the project title.
The following actions are available: Edit, Copy link, Pin as favorite in menu, Duplicate, Start timer, Log time, Assign members, Change status, Change project type, Color, Link Slack, Create template, Create workflow, Move project, Open timeline, Open in new tab, Delete.
The Project Timeline
Click Timeline in the header at the top center next to List to see all projects as a timeline. At the same time, you'll see the project list on the left side. You can resize the list or timeline by dragging the divider line between the two areas.
For a project to be displayed in the timeline, it must have a start and end date. Add the dates in the project details or in the edit window.
Show Milestones in the Timeline
You can display milestones by clicking the milestone icon in the top right. They appear as small diamonds at the top of each project bar.
Milestones that fall outside the project's time range are not displayed.
When you hover over a milestone, you'll see its full name.
Tip: For the same type of milestones, it's best to use the same colors. This way, you can quickly see what type of milestone it is in the timeline.
Configure the Display
Configure the view to your liking using the options in the top right.
- Sort by: Tasks, Budget, Created, Due, Progress, Key, Client, Name, Start date, Status, Workflow
- Group by: Due week, Due month, Client, Status, Status type, Type, Responsible, Workflow
- Choose displayed columns: awork automatically remembers your selection.
- Create a filter and save it, or select a saved filter. The filter bar can be shown or hidden using the filter button in the action bar (funnel icon).
- Search for projects using the search field in the top left with the magnifying glass icon (next to the + Project button). The list is automatically searched and filtered accordingly. When you clear the search text, you'll return to your previous view.
Reset the selected sorting, grouping, and filtering criteria by clicking Reset to default in the action button in the top right.
Export Projects
You can download the project overview in Excel format via the action button in the top right of the list and timeline > Export. The export contains the raw data from the project overview, which you can use for your own analyses.
You can find more information about exporting here here.

FAQ
Where do I find the project overview?
Open the main menu and click on Projects.
Why don't I see a project in the timeline view?
For a project to be displayed in the timeline, it must have a start and end date. Add these in the project details or in the edit window.
Why can't I find my project?
If you can't find a project in the project overview or through search, you probably don't have enough permissions to see it. Ask the project manager for access, for example by being assigned to the project or added to the team.
I can find my project through search, but it's not showing in the project list. What can I do?
Most likely a filter is still active. Click the funnel icon to check if a filter is selected.
Why can't I create a filter in the project list?
Click the funnel icon in the top right (Show filters). A row with filter options will appear above the project list/timeline. Here you can add a filter or click Advanced to create a complex project filter.
