Gantt View for Project Planning

The Gantt view displays your project tasks as horizontal bars on a timeline, with each bar representing a task's duration. It's the right choice when you want to see how tasks relate to each other over time, manage dependencies, or share a project schedule with clients and stakeholders.

Use the Gantt view when you:

• Plan and schedule tasks within a project
• Want to visualize and manage dependencies between tasks
• Need to share a project schedule with clients, stakeholders, or team members

Accessing the Gantt View

1. Open any project.
2. Click on More and select Timeline.
3. Use the button in the top right to switch between Gantt and Compact view.

Key Features

Display and Organization

Each task gets its own row on the timeline once start and end dates are set. Lists, parent tasks, and subtasks are clearly structured in a hierarchy. Collapse or expand lists and parent tasks to focus on what matters most.

Planning and Scheduling

Drag unscheduled tasks from the sidebar directly onto the timeline to assign them start and end dates. This only works for tasks that don't have dates yet.

You can create dependencies between tasks (finish-to-start): Task 1 must be completed before Task 2 can begin. You can drag and drop entire lists or parent tasks to move them, and all tasks within them will move together.

Navigation and Export

• Use the mini-map to quickly navigate through the timeline. The currently visible area is always displayed, and you can click anywhere on it to jump straight to that section.
• Vertical scrolling: Hold the spacebar and drag with your left mouse button.
• Auto-scrolling: When you drag tasks near the edge of the visible area, the screen automatically scrolls along with you.
• Export the Gantt view as an SVG or PNG image.

Scroll to View

Click the Scroll to view button in a task's sidebar to jump directly to it on the timeline.

Automatically Adopt Subtask Time Range

Enable Automatically adopt time range from subtasks for a parent task to automatically adjust its start and end dates based on its subtasks. This option appears both in the task details and directly on the task bar.

When this feature is active, the parent task's dates are determined exclusively by its subtasks and cannot be set manually. It's disabled by default.

Move Tasks

Select multiple tasks in the Gantt view using multi-select, then click Move in the three-dot menu. Enter the number of days you want to shift the selected tasks forward or backward - negative values are allowed.

Collapse and Expand Lists and Parent Tasks in Gantt View

You can collapse and expand lists and parent tasks to better display the hierarchy of your schedule.

You can also drag and drop lists and parent tasks to move them - all tasks within them will be moved together on the timeline.

FAQ

Are recurring tasks supported in Gantt view?

Not currently. Recurring tasks cannot be displayed in Gantt view.
