Compact Timeline
In this article, you'll learn how to make the most of the compact timeline view.
Customize the Sidebar and View

Collapse the sidebar
Click the sidebar button in the top toolbar of the task panel on the left side. This gives you more space for the timeline display. -
Open the task panel
Click the vertical Tasks bar on the left edge of the timeline to open the task panel and schedule tasks in the timeline. -
Show or hide scheduled items
In the task panel's toolbar, you'll find a button with a calendar icon: Show scheduled. Click it to show or hide tasks that are already scheduled in the timeline.
Only tasks with start and end dates will appear in the timeline.
- Show or hide completed tasks
Click the button with the double checkmarks in the toolbar to show or hide completed tasks in the view. The tooltip says Show completed tasks.
Create and Manage Tasks
- Create a new task
- Click the purple + Task button in the top left of the workspace.
- Use the plus icon next to the list title to create a new task directly in that list.
- Drag and drop to select a desired time period and choose the New task action.

Expand and collapse task lists
Click the list title to expand or collapse the list. -
Change task status
Click the small circle next to the task name in the task list to change the task's status. -
Schedule tasks
Use drag and drop to schedule tasks from the list into the timeline.
Edit Tasks in the Timeline

Move tasks
Grab the task with drag and drop and move it to a different time period. -
Move a task's due date
To change a task's start date or due date, use the handle at the beginning or end of the task and drag the task bar in the timeline horizontally to the desired date. -
View task details in the timeline
Click a task in the timeline to display the task details. -
Assign team members and change estimated effort
Click the icons on the right side of the task. For shorter tasks, these appear when you hover your mouse over the task. -
Create a milestone
Click the desired date in the timeline where you want to set a milestone. A tooltip "Create milestone" appears and a dialog opens where you can set the name, date, and color for the milestone. Click "Save" or close the dialog with the X button in the top right.
Bookings and Availability
- Create a new booking
Open the action menu by clicking in an empty area of the timeline. In the "Actions" menu that appears, select "New booking".
- Check availability
Click in an empty area of the timeline and choose the "Check availability" action. Select a time period and click the Availability button to display your team members' availability for the selected period. Next to each user, an availability bar shows the number of available hours. Hover over it to also see total capacity and workload.
Create Dependencies

Create a dependency between tasks
To create a dependency, click the arrow that appears on the right side of a task when you hover over it. The tooltip "Create dependency" indicates that you can now draw a connection to another task. Drag it to the task you want to link. -
Remove a dependency
To delete an existing dependency, hover over the pink arrow and click the X symbol below the dependency line. The tooltip Remove dependency confirms the action.
