The List and Table View

In this article, you'll learn how to use the list and table view in awork to manage your tasks efficiently. You'll discover how to switch between views, customize columns, group and sort tasks, as well as apply various actions to your tasks.

You can switch between the list and table view everywhere in awork - for example, in projects and views.

Switching Between List and Table View

In the toolbar above your task list, you'll find the view options List and Table. Click on your preferred view to switch between the list view and the detailed table view.

Grouping and Sorting Tasks

Adjust Sorting
Use the sort icon in the toolbar to change the order of your tasks. The tooltip "Sort by" shows you the available sorting options: Task Status, Assignee, Created by, Created, Due Date, Planned Effort, Key, Name, Priority, Start Date, Status Type, Activity.

Change Grouping
Click on the group icon in the top right toolbar. A dropdown menu will open with the heading "Group by". You can choose from various options: Assignee, Created by, List, Priority, Status Type, Activity, Daily/Weekly/Monthly.

You can remove the sorting or grouping by clicking Clear Selection.

Classic task lists also represent a grouping. If you remove this, you'll see the individual tasks sorted chronologically by task key without lists.

Showing or Hiding Completed Tasks

Click on the double check mark icon in the toolbar to show or hide completed tasks. You have 2 options to choose from:

  • Show Recently Completed Tasks (from the last 30 days)
  • and Show All

Managing Task Lists

Click on the action menu in the top right corner and select Manage Task Lists. A modal window will open showing all task lists in the project.

  • Reorder Task Lists
In the management window, you can change the order of lists using drag and drop. Drag a list by the grip handle on the left and drop it at your desired position.
  • Perform List Actions
Click on the three-dot menu to the right of a list to access more options: Archive or Delete Task List. Close the window using the Close button or the X symbol.

Organizing Tasks

Each task is now in a clearly defined row.

Moving Individual Tasks
Use the move grip (symbol with 6 dots on the left in the task column) to grab and move tasks.

Drag and drop a task row to a different position within the list. A colored line shows you where the task will be inserted.

Creating New Tasks

Add Task
Click on the Add Task row in a task list or click the + Task button between tasks.

Add Subtask
Click on + Subtask to create a nested task under an existing task, or drag an existing task by the grip handle on the left to the right to place it under a task.

Edit Entire Hierarchies
When you select a parent task, the subtasks automatically come along with it.

Actions for Task Lists

Expand and Collapse Subtasks
Open the action menu of a task list and select Expand Subtasks or Collapse Subtasks to display or hide all subtasks.

  2. Perform Bulk Actions
When tasks are selected, an action bar appears at the bottom of the screen. It shows the number of selected tasks (e.g., "2 selected") and offers various actions through the action menu (the horizontal 3 dots):

The Table View

Each list can be switched to the table view. You decide which columns you see in the table, in what order, and how wide they are.

Your awork remembers the configuration per list, so you can set it up individually for each project.

Configuring Columns in Table View

Select Displayed Columns
Click on the columns icon in the toolbar to open the columns dropdown menu. Here you'll see a list of all available columns. Enable or disable the columns you want by clicking on the respective checkbox.

Adjust Column Width
Drag the vertical line between two column headers to change the width of a column. The tooltip "Resize" confirms this action.

Reorder Columns
Drag a column via drag and drop to a new position. The tooltip "Drag to reorder" shows you that the column is being moved.

Sort Columns in Ascending or Descending Order
Click the up or down arrow next to the column title to sort a column in ascending or descending order.
