Time zone
Your time zone determines how dates and times are displayed in awork. It's set when you create your account. Manually adjust your time zone if you travel, as it won't update automatically.
Note: The first day of the week in Time > My Week follows your browser's language/region settings. English (UK) starts on Monday; English (US) starts on Sunday.
Dark Mode
Choose your preferred appearance:
- Off always uses Light Mode
- Auto uses your browser/operating system settings (default)
- On always uses Dark Mode
For Dark Mode, you can also choose the variant: Standard or High Contrast
Open links in Desktop App
- enable this option if you want links to always open in the desktop app (you need to have the Mac or Windows app installed)
Hide Start/Stop Timer
- hide the stopwatch buttons (timers) for your user - both the stopwatch in the bottom right and the smaller timers in projects and tasks
Time format for totals
Control how tracked time totals are displayed in projects and tasks:
- Tracked time totals are displayed by default in Auto mode and change depending on the amount:
- Under 8h as hour format (e.g., 5:30h)
- Over 8h as day format (e.g., 1.2d)
- Hours always shows totals as 20:00h
- Days always shows totals as 2.5d
Individual times and running timers will continue to be displayed in the 01:20:30 or 01:20h format.
Name display
- First & Last Name (shows your full name in awork; the last name must be entered in your personal details)
- First Name
Hide recommendations in Time > My Day
Turn off the toggle so you can see your appointments under Time > My Day and create a time entry directly from them.
Note: If your admin has disabled time tracking for all users, the settings Hide Start/Stop Timer and Hide recommendations in Time > My Day will be hidden.
Projects in the main menu
The Projects section in the main menu is divided into Favorites, External Projects, and My Projects. Set in your Account Settings which projects are displayed in the menu:
- Show Favorites
- Show External Projects
- Show My Projects
Sections are only displayed if they contain projects.
Set your availability
Weekly capacity (in hours)
Your weekly working hours play a role in team planning and represent the time available for scheduling in the Planner. The default is 40 hours per week. Working part-time or not working on certain days? Then adjust the number of hours.
Holiday region
Choose your region so you see the appropriate holidays in the workload overview.
Note: Changing your own holiday region requires write permissions for user planning. If your region isn't listed, users with the right permissions can set up custom holidays. Workspace administrators can edit this setting at any time.
Enable or disable reports and briefings
Stay updated with automated email summaries that you can enable or disable here:
- Weekly Briefing arrives Monday morning with upcoming deadlines, overdue tasks, and a preview of the coming week
- Weekly Report arrives Friday with completed tasks, tracked time, and the week's achievements
- Monthly Report arrives on the 1st of the month with a complete monthly overview including tracked time and productivity statistics
Choose your notification settings

FAQ
Where do I find Account Settings?
Click on your profile picture in the bottom left of the main menu (or your initials) and select Account Settings or navigate to Settings (gear icon in the bottom left of the main menu) and select Account.
Do Account Settings apply to all my workspaces?
Yes. Your Account Settings control how you use awork across all your workspaces. Your Account Email is your primary identification across all awork workspaces.
Why is my Account Email different from my Workspace Email?
Your Account Email is the one you use to sign in to awork. Only you can change it in your Account Settings. With the same account, you can access multiple awork workspaces.
Within each workspace, you have your own user profile. This profile can contain different information depending on the workspace. If permissions allow, other users (like admins) can edit your workspace profile, for example to add contact information.
These changes don't affect your login email or your account settings. Notifications are always sent to the email address stored in your account.
That's why your account email address and your workspace email can be different.
Can I still log in with email and password after linking Google/Microsoft?
Yes. After successful linking, you can log in with Google/Microsoft, and email and password login will continue to work as well.
What happens if I disconnect Google/Microsoft and never set a password?
awork will send you an email with a link to create a password.
Why don't I see "Hide Start/Stop Timer" or "Hide recommendations in Time > My Day"?
If your admin has disabled time tracking for all users, these two settings will be hidden.
