Here's how you can use subtasks in awork to better organize and manage your projects.

Creating Subtasks

You can convert tasks in awork into subtasks:

  1. Use Drag & Drop: You can convert tasks in awork into subtasks. Drag an existing task under another one to nest it as a subtask.
  2. Create new subtasks: Click + Subtask below a task to open an input field.
  3. Assign a parent task: When creating new tasks, select Add details > Attach as subtask to choose a parent task under which the new task should be placed.

Changing the Order

  • Drag & Drop: Change the order and levels by simply dragging tasks.

Convert a Checklist into Subtasks

If your task has a checklist and you want to convert it into actual tasks, click the action button next to the checklist and select Convert to tasks.


Progress and Time Tracked

A task with subtasks displays the total time tracked and progress in both the detail and list view, including the subtasks.


Subtasks in Board and Timeline

  • Board view: Only the top-level tasks are displayed. Click expand/collapse to see the subtasks.

  • Timeline: Here you can plan both parent and subtasks and set dependencies. Subtasks are clearly recognizable by an icon and the name of the parent task.


Subtasks in Task Filters

When you create a task filter, it's possible that both subtasks and parent tasks match your criteria. Parent tasks are displayed if they match the filter, while subtasks appear at the top level if their parent task is not shown.
