Onboarding Tutorial
The awork Onboarding Tutorial helps new users get to know their workspace step by step. It walks you through important features like creating projects, tracking time, working with docs, or using the planner.
As an admin, you can decide which parts of the tutorial are visible for which roles. This keeps onboarding clear and relevant - for example, for internal team members, external users, or admins.
Key Benefits and Use Cases
Not every role needs all the content. By customizing your onboarding, you can:
- Reduce complexity for new users
- Focus content on the specific role
- help your team get up and running faster
The tutorial automatically adapts to the role settings you define.
How to Set Up the Onboarding Tutorial

In the permission settings for a role, admins can show or hide specific onboarding sections for users:
- Onboarding Progress

Turn Sections On or Off for a Role
- Open Settings
- Go to Rights Management
- Select the General Permission Roles you want to edit
- Scroll down to Visibility of Tasks in Onboarding Tutorial
- Enable or disable individual elements using the eye icon (Show/Hide)
Your changes apply to all users with this role.
When admins disable a section for a role:
- users won't see the corresponding onboarding tasks anymore
- hidden tasks won't count toward onboarding progress
- the tutorial stays focused on relevant content
This way, every role gets a customized onboarding without unnecessary complexity.
How the Leaderboard / "Team Progress" Works
The Leaderboard shows how far users in your workspace have progressed through the onboarding tutorial. It makes progress visible and motivates teams to complete onboarding together.

- Disable Onboarding Progress to hide the leaderboard
To access team onboarding progress, click the Support & Help button in the top right, then click Go to Tutorial.
Important: Admins always have access to the leaderboard. For all other roles, visibility depends on your settings.
