Notion Importer

How to get started with the import

You can find the Notion Importer in two places:

  • On the Docs homepage
Click on the import icon on the Docs page.
  • In Settings (gear icon in the bottom left of the main menu) under "Importers"
Click on "Start import" next to Notion.

Preparing your Notion export

To export your data from Notion, you have two options:

  1. Export your entire workspace:
Go to Notion Settings > General > Export. Select HTML format, enable "Include contents: Everything" and "Create folders for subpages".

  2. Export a single page with subpages:
Open the page you want in Notion, click the menu icon (three dots) in the top right, and select "Export". Make sure you select HTML format and the "Include subpages" option.

☝️ Note: The export only includes content you have access to. Ideally, the export should be performed by someone with admin rights.

Importing into awork

  1. Upload the exported ZIP file in the Notion Importer.
  2. Select the Docs Space in awork where you want the content imported.
  3. Decide whether the imported documents should be private (visible only to you) or accessible to your team.

What gets imported?

  • Pages and subpages: Imported as documents in awork.
  • Databases: Imported as tables based on the view settings you selected in Notion. For best results, we recommend exporting the database separately.
  • Comments and trash content: Not imported.
  • Maximum file size: Exports larger than 1.5 GB are not supported.
In that case, please export individual sections separately.

Managing permissions

After import, you can adjust access permissions for documents and spaces in awork individually.
