General about tasks
Tasks are the foundation for work organization in awork. With them, you'll be able to write detailed briefings, work on them together as a team, record times, and make progress transparent.
You can find out more about what tasks can do and what the individual fields mean here: task details.
Create a task
In awork, tasks can be created at different places and in different ways:
Via the purple action button in the app header.
Via the shortcut "t
In the project tasks
In the menu item Task filters
Via emails
Below are brief explanations of the main ways to create a task.
Create tasks via the pop-up New task
The pop-up for creating new tasks can be accessed in many of the ways mentioned above in awork.
In the text field you can give your task a name and then use the button Add details to add a lot of additional information like description, a due date and much more.
Using slash commands you can also add details without using the mouse. Just type "/" in the task field to start the slash commands and type or select the command you want to execute. Here you can for example type the name of a project to assign it and so on. A list of available commands can be found at the bottom of the window when the pop-up is open.
To save the task, just type Enter or click the blue Save button.
After saving, the window will stay open, so you can directly create the next task.
You can close the window by clicking on the red close icon, by pressing the ESC key or by clicking on the background. The latter is only possible if you have not yet entered any text or further details.
With the successful creation of the task, a confirmation note appears in the upper right corner of the window. If you click on it, you will be taken directly to the task.
โ๏ธHint: If you open the window within a project, the project is already preselected.
Create tasks within a task list
To create a new task directly in a task list, simply click the Add Task area at the top of the list. Alternatively, you can move the mouse to the position where the new task should be created. Then the option to create the task there between two existing tasks will appear.
You can now enter the task name and add more information about your task using the Add Details button or the slash commands.
When you press Enter, the task will be saved. You can enter further information either directly in the task list or in the task details.
โ๏ธImportant: Creating tasks in lists only works in the project tasks, not in the menu item Tasks filters; exception: private tasks.
In the menu item Task filters
If you have opened a task filter, you can create a new task using the blue + task button at the top left.
Create tasks from emails
There is a possibility in awork to create private and project tasks by forwarding emails. Learn more about creating tasks via emails.
