With the awork Desktop App, you can use awork directly on your computer. The app is exactly the same application you already know from your browser.

The app supports Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows 11 (64-bit, recommended), and macOS 13 (Ventura) on Intel and Apple silicon devices. For more details, see the system requirements.

Windows

1. Download the app

2. Double-click awork.exe

3. Follow the installation process

4. Then open awork from your Startmenü

macOS

1. Download the app

2. Double-click awork.dmg

3. Drag the awork app into the Anwendungen folder

4. Open Anwendungen in Finder and launch the awork app

You can also drag the app to the macOS Dock so awork is always close at hand.

The first time you launch the app, you'll need to confirm that you want to allow it to run on your device.

Installation through device management

For managed Apple silicon Macs, IT teams can download the latest version of awork as a DMG or PKG.

Manage notifications

The first time you launch awork, it asks whether you want to allow notifications. We recommend enabling them.

• App running in the background Notifications are delivered by your operating system

• App in the foreground Notifications appear in awork as usual

• Focus mode Notifications are automatically suppressed

Open links in the Desktop App

The first time you sign in to the Desktop App, awork remembers that you've installed it.

1. Open an awork link, for example, from an email

2. You'll first be taken to awork in your browser

3. A pop-up appears in the top-right corner, asking if you want to open the page in the Desktop App

4. Click the button in the pop-up and, if needed, confirm in your browser that you want to open the app

If you always want links to open in the Desktop App, turn on the toggle in the pop-up.

When the toggle is on, opening a link takes you to an almost blank awork page, and you'll need to confirm once that you want to open the app. Select Im Browser öffnen to go to the page without using the Desktop App.

You can turn off the default behavior of opening links in the Desktop App using the toggle on this page, or in your account settings under Anzeigeeinstellungen > Öffne Links in Desktop App.

Work with tabs

The Desktop App supports tabs. You'll see them in the tab bar of the app window.

1. Click the plus icon in the tab bar to open a new tab

2. You can also open pages directly in new tabs by holding down CMD (Mac) or CTRL (Windows) while clicking

3. Drag and drop tabs to move them left or right

4. Close tabs by hovering over a tab and clicking X

These tab shortcuts are supported:

• Create a new tab CMD/CTRL + T

• Close the active tab CMD/CTRL + W

• Refresh tabs CMD/CTRL + R

• Copy the tab link CMD/CTRL + L

Updates

The Desktop App automatically checks once a day for app updates. We recommend installing an update as soon as it's available.

You'll often see a notification in the app that a new version of awork is available. Click the notification and awork will reload with the latest version.

awork is collaborative and needs a connection to the awork servers to keep data up to date.
