User Bookings
What are Bookings?
Similar to tasks, bookings schedule a user for a project over a selected time period. However, they're much simpler and faster to create than tasks. This makes "painting" allocations super easy and quick.
A booking always consists of a user, a project, and a planned effort value. You can also optionally add a note, which is helpful, for example, if you want to block off time but aren't quite sure yet whether the job will actually happen in that period.
Creating, editing, and removing bookings
You can create bookings in the timeline (in a project or workload overview) simply by clicking and dragging. The pre-filled planned effort always corresponds to the user's full capacity during that time period.
You can move bookings, extend them, shorten them, or edit them by clicking on the element.
You can also create tasks from bookings by clicking the small icon on the right edge of the booking when you hover your mouse over the element.
You delete bookings using the small X icon in the upper right corner of the element, which appears when you hover your mouse over it.
Bookings within a project
Within a project, you can create bookings in the timeline by clicking and dragging, just like tasks. The project is assigned automatically here, and you only need to set the user and the planned effort.
Bookings in the workload view
In the workload timeline, you can also create bookings by clicking and dragging. Since you're always in a user's row here, you only need to specify the project and the planned effort.
Impact on workload through bookings
The planned effort specified for a booking is distributed evenly across the available days for the user in that time period. If working hours vary between days, the distribution adjusts proportionally.
Unlike tasks, remaining effort is not pushed into the future. For example, if you have a booking that started a week ago and extends another week, the effort on individual days remains unchanged as days pass. This is because a booking, unlike tasks, has no status and no time entries can be recorded on it.
