Release History

Access AI Chat and Custom Agents to ask project questions, automate recurring tasks, and choose your preferred LLM with full GDPR compliance and EU hosting

2026

22.09.26 – awork AI – Chat and Agents, ready for your AI rollout

One chat for all your questions, project-related or not

The AI Chat gives everyone on your team a place for the questions that come up every day. Ask everyday questions just like you would in a regular AI tool, plus get answers with real project data when it matters: timelines, resources, time tracking, customer feedback, and more. No tab switching and no need to manually hunt down context. The answer fits your question right away, powered by the LLM of your choice.

Hand off recurring tasks to Custom Agents that already know the context

Start with ready-made agents built for typical agency use cases, or create your own and share them with your team in just a few clicks. Custom Agents take on the complex, repetitive tasks that would otherwise eat up your afternoon, so your team can focus on what really matters.

Every agent is built for agency work from the start. Use templates for client reports, briefs, and creative reviews, so you don't start with a blank prompt.

Start private, open it up to your team with one click

New threads start as private by default, so you can think freely before you have anything to share. Link a thread to a project when your team should see it. Then your project's access rights apply automatically, all the way down to the client level.

Any LLM you want, fully GDPR-compliant and hosted in the EU

Pick the right LLM for each task. awork AI runs on the model of your choice, with no lock-in to a single default model. Every agent stays strictly within your permissions, so client work never bleeds into another client's context. And because everything is fully hosted in the EU and 100% GDPR-compliant, your team can roll out AI without opening up a whole new compliance discussion.

Full transparency on AI usage, by project, team, user, or client

Keep track of AI usage by project, team, user, or client for clear, simple cost control and billing.

09.07.26 – The new awork

Cleaner design, up to 30% more compact

The whole design is calmer now. New typography, a fresh icon set, stronger contrast. That brings up to 30% more onto your screen, with clearer hierarchy, so you see more of your work at a glance. Beyond Dark Mode, there's now one more contrast level (Standard β†’ High) for better accessibility.

Clearer navigation, everything where you'd expect it

The new main menu keeps personal content, workspace, and projects neatly separated, so you find what you're looking for faster. The new Floating Action Bar bundles search, awork AI, quick actions, and timer in one fixed spot, plus context-specific actions for the page you're on.

The new lists, the right view for every job

The lists in awork got a complete overhaul. Now you can group, sort, and switch to table view in any list. That used to only work in filter views. Set up columns per list and edit entire task hierarchies in one action. Group a project by assignee, sort by due date, and you instantly see who's overloaded, without leaving the project.

04.06.26 - Fully functional MCP Server

No more missing endpoints

The awork MCP Server now supports the complete awork API. AI agents connected through Claude, ChatGPT, or other MCP-compatible clients have access to everything in awork. No more workarounds for missing endpoints.

External AI agents that truly understand awork

Thanks to embedded access to awork documentation and best practices, your AI agent doesn't just know the API. It also knows how to use awork the right way. The result: fewer errors, more reliable results on complex tasks.

Lean, fast, and further

A smaller MCP footprint means less token consumption per session. Complex agent workflows stay efficient throughout. Setup: one URL, one login, done.

20.05.26 - Copy Docs as Markdown (.md)

Export content with one click

Open an awork Doc, click the action menu, and select "Copy as Markdown". The content lands straight in your clipboard, ready to paste into Notion, GitHub, Slack, or any other tool that supports Markdown. Headings, tables, lists, code blocks, and text formatting all stay intact.

Structure and context come along

Every export includes a YAML header with the document name and a link back to the source in awork. Inline comments get resolved into their own section at the end of the export.

30.04.26 - Workflows

Unified processes for all your projects

Use Workflows to define recurring processes once (statuses, automations, and custom fields for tasks). Then apply that workflow to any of your projects. When you update the workflow, all connected projects automatically adjust.

Set up projects quickly and safely

Assign a workflow to a project template to launch new projects with the right process built in. Already have a well-configured project? Save it as a workflow in the project settings and roll those settings out to as many other projects as you want.

Get started with workflows

When you link an existing project to a workflow, a setup wizard opens to help you get it configured. In the project settings, you see exactly which workflow is active and what it controls. You can switch workflows anytime.

Flexibility at the project level

Not every project fits a workflow perfectly. That's why you can disable individual workflow automations per project, or add project-specific automations and custom fields while keeping the project connected to the workflow.

See which projects use which process

Search, filter, and group your project list by workflow. This is especially useful once you have multiple workflows running, so you can spot gaps, check coverage, and keep track of everything.

16.04.26 - Filters with AND/OR logic

Build complex filter conditions

Combine criteria with AND/OR connections and group them in brackets to build multi-level logic.

Use Quick Filters when you need results fast

Apply Quick Filters on any page (Projects, Tasks, Users, etc.). You see results right away without opening a new input form or loading a saved filter.

Save, share, and organize filters

Save filters, share them with people, teams, or your entire workspace, and keep everything organized in views. Favorite what matters, archive the rest.

16.04.26 - Views: Create and organize what you want to see

A dedicated space for filters and saved views

Views is now its own area in awork. Your filters and saved views have a clear home. Easier to find, manage, and track down.

Standard views ready to go

You start with three standard views: New Tasks, My Tasks, and Private Tasks. Ready to use, no setup needed.

Share views purposefully with the right people

Share views with specific people, teams, or your entire workspace. You decide right then whether they can read or edit. No more broadcasting to everyone.

Just the beginning

Views launches with list view. More view types and workspace-wide views are coming soon.

16.04.26 - Bulk actions for projects

Update multiple projects in one go

Update several projects at once - change status, tags, dates, project owners, and more all in one step. Select your projects, choose an action, and confirm. Each project reports its own result, so nothing fails silently.

14.04.26 - Duplicate projects directly from the context menu

Duplicate any project - complete structure included

Copy the entire project structure all at once - tasks, lists, custom fields, automations, and more included. Open the action menu for a project and select "Duplicate project". The copy is independent and has no connection to the original.

Control what gets copied

Members, assignees, documents, and files are included by default - you can toggle each element off independently before duplicating. Task statuses can be reset so the project starts with a clean slate.

10.02.26 - Project & task keys

Reference tasks uniquely

Every project gets a short key (like MKTG or BRND) and every task gets a permanent number (like MKTG-42). Say goodbye to "that design task we talked about yesterday". Instead, you get clear references for Slack, Git commits, customer emails, and team calls. Task numbers never change, even if the title does, so your documentation and commit history stay valid forever.

Find quickly, copy even faster

Search any task by its number (just type "42" or the full "MKTG-42") and jump straight to it. Click the task key to copy the URL, click the project key to copy the project link. Perfect for developers committing code, account managers updating clients, or anyone who needs auditable traceability without the copy-paste dance.

You control the visibility

Keys are generated automatically for all projects and tasks, but you decide who sees them. Workspace admins set the default (visible or hidden), project managers can override it per project. Enable project keys for your workspace whenever you're ready.

10.02.26 - Manual automation triggers

Kick off multi-step processes with a click

Not every workflow should run automatically. Manual triggers let you start automations exactly when you need them - like running your QA checklist before a client review, or your "prepare invoice" flow when a project phase wraps up. Set up the automation once in your project settings (or template), and then any team member can trigger it directly from a task using the new button in the top right.

Same power as automations, but with total control

Set up manual triggers just like regular automations: select Manual as the trigger type, give it a clear name (like "Start release process"), add your actions (change status, assign users, trigger webhooks), and save. The automation appears in a dropdown on every task in that project - ready to run when you click, not when an event fires.

10.02.26 - Trusted workspaces - skip setup for known Connect partners

Auto-accept select Connect invitations

If you're constantly collaborating with the same agency, client, or freelancer workspace via awork Connect, you shouldn't have to approve every single project invitation. Now workspace admins can mark specific workspaces as "trusted" to automatically accept invitations from them. Your regular partners can jump straight into projects, get assigned tasks, and get going.

Set it once and forget it

Go to Workspace settings > Connect > Trusted workspaces, add your partner's workspace (by ID or URL), hit save, and you're done. From that moment on, everyone from that trusted workspace can connect with your users instantly. Perfect for agencies with regular clients, companies with dedicated freelancer pools, or any team tired of approving the same people over and over.

10.02.26 - All-day calendar entries for bookings and tasks

See assigned tasks where you plan your day

The "All-day" row at the top of your calendar now shows tasks and bookings assigned to you (not just time off and calendar events). This means you can see at a glance what projects you're booked on and what tasks are waiting for you - all in the same view where you already plan meetings and block focus time. Tasks show a solid border, bookings show a dotted border (like in timeline views), and hovering shows the full name. Makes it much easier to drag your actual work into free slots and build a realistic daily plan.

Decide what shows up

Go into your calendar settings and you'll find three new options: "All-day tasks" gives you your assigned tasks from active projects. "Tasks without start date" adds tasks that only have a due date (they show as a 1-day item on that day) - but the first toggle needs to be on. And "Show bookings" displays your resource bookings. Play with the settings to see what matters to you and hide the rest.

10.02.26 - Out of office blocks now reduce your capacity

Your calendar absences count toward workload planning (if you want)

When you block off half a day for a doctor's appointment or a free afternoon in your calendar as "Out of Office", awork can now see it and reduce your capacity in the planner's workload accordingly. It's completely optional: go to your calendar integration settings and enable "Load absences and treat as out of office". Once it's on, your OOO blocks appear in the awork calendar and are automatically factored into resource planning. Leave it off if you prefer to manage absences differently.

Perfect for absences that don't fit the all-day pattern

Not every absence is a full vacation day. Sometimes it's a two-hour dentist appointment, a half-day conference, or "leaving early for parent-teacher night". Out of office blocks let you capture these shorter absences without logging them separately in a separate HR system. Your team sees you're unavailable, the planner adjusts your workload, and nobody assigns you stuff when you're already gone.

2025

03.11.25 - MFA, new slash commands, and Docs improvements

MFA: Extra security, made simple

awork now supports multi-factor authentication (MFA), giving you an extra layer of protection when you log in. Beyond your password, you can now confirm your identity with a code from your email or an authenticator app.

Apply formatting with slash commands

Speed up your writing flow. Use "/" in docs, descriptions, and comments to quickly insert headings, lists, images, and other formats without ever touching your mouse.

Slack notifications for Doc activity

Get notified in Slack when someone comments or reacts to a doc, mentions you, or shares a doc with you.

Link a doc directly from the task

You can now link documents directly in task details. Keep your context and notes exactly where you need them.

29.10.25 - Gantt View for Projects

Your project roadmap: Clear, visual, and easy to plan

The new Gantt view visualizes your project plan with task bars showing start and end dates plus duration - including dependencies and clear hierarchy from lists, parent tasks, and subtasks. Plan campaigns sequentially, drag and drop phases, keep predecessors and successors stable, and export your timeline as PNG/SVG for your clients.

Scroll into focus

One click in the sidebar and the view jumps directly to your chosen task in the timeline. Saves you endless scrolling in large projects and gets you to your next to-do faster.

Automatic adjustment for parent tasks

Automatically align the start and end dates of parent tasks with their subtasks. When automatic adjustment is active, the subtask dates control the parent timeframe.

28.08.25 - awork AI (Beta) - your smart project assistant

Create helpful content in seconds

Create client updates, task briefings, meeting notes, or doc drafts in seconds - right where you're working. awork AI uses your current project context to nail the tone and details, so you refine instead of starting from scratch. Save valuable time and stay in the flow.

Manage projects with less manual effort

Skip the busywork and let awork AI do it for you: create and assign tasks, adjust timelines, update statuses, or change priorities. For bigger changes, the AI asks for confirmation - staying safe stays smart. Less admin, more done.

Get answers in the right context

Get clear answers on demand about status, deadlines, capacity, or logged time - no report wrangling needed. awork AI reads your current project or task (within your permissions) and delivers insights plus next steps. Aligned in seconds, even during stressful phases.

Protect sensitive data

GDPR-compliant hosting in the EU, no use of your data for AI training, strict permission enforcement. Admins can disable awork AI workspace-wide if needed. Use AI with peace of mind - even with sensitive client data.

26.08.25 - Quick Reports for instant overview

Create your most important time reports in seconds

Quick reports let you skip the setup for classic time reports and select the right filters with just one click. Choose between "Monthly time capture overview", "Logged vs planned", "Billability per user", and "Ready for invoicing".

15.07.25 - Improved time reports: Faster, clearer, more flexible

More intuitive layout and instant results

Time reports are now generated automatically as soon as you select filters - no need for an extra "Apply" button anymore. Filter selection is now much more direct and convenient.

Keep planned efforts in sight

New columns for "planned effort" make it easy to compare planned time and actual logged time directly in your report.

Reports by task list - including export

You can now filter time reports by specific task lists - a frequently requested feature. The corresponding task list is also shown in exports.

Primary task list for complete clarity

Since tasks can be assigned to multiple lists, you now select which one is the primary task list when moving a task to another list. Time entries are only assigned to this primary list - keeping your reports clean and traceable.

15.07.25 - Export Docs as PDF

Work with your docs outside of awork too

You can now export any doc as a clean, shareable PDF file - perfect for printing, archiving, or sharing outside of awork.

10.07.25 - Doc versioning: Every change saved, full control

All edits automatically saved as versions

With the new versioning, awork automatically saves every change within Docs - whether private, in a space, or in a project. So you always have your complete document history at your fingertips.

View and manage version history

Open the three-dot menu to see all saved versions including previews. See at a glance who changed what and when, and jump directly to the version you want.

Restore earlier versions - without losing data

You can restore an older version anytime. Your current version stays in place - so no information is lost and you have maximum flexibility when reverting.

Security and control for every team

Versioning is available for all doc types. Users with edit permissions (Professional plan and above) can view versions and jump back - for seamless team collaboration, even with lots of changes.

10.07.25 - Custom fields for projects: More flexibility, more overview

Custom fields for every project

You can now create custom fields for all projects - just as easily as for tasks. All custom fields you create are automatically available in every project.

Integrated directly into all workflows

Show custom fields in your project list, set them up in project templates, and edit them directly in project details - so every project adapts to your needs.

Targeted filtering for quick overview

You can now filter by custom fields for both projects and tasks. So it's easier to get the overview you need.

19.06.25 - New Docs editor features

Text colors in Docs

You can now change text colors in Docs. Highlight important info, structure content visually, or just make it a bit more colorful - right from the toolbar.

Syntax highlighting in code blocks

Developers, rejoice: Code blocks in Docs now support syntax highlighting for popular programming languages - making snippets easier to read, copy, and review.

Checklist format in Docs

Stay organized while you write: Add simple to-dos directly from the toolbar to any document and check them off when done.

Fullscreen view for embedded images

Click the fullscreen button in the image toolbar to display a larger version.

20.05.25 - Quality week: 60+ minor updates, including improved workflows and new Xero integration

New billing integration: Xero

awork now connects seamlessly with Xero - making invoicing even easier for agencies and project-driven teams (especially in the UK).

More overview and flow

Navigation, lists, and filters are now even smarter and more intuitive - so you and your team always have the perfect overview and find what really matters faster.

Faster (and smarter) in your daily work

From task creation to time tracking: Many small optimizations make your workflows smoother, eliminate annoying friction, and save you valuable time with smart shortcuts.

More efficiency for teams

Collaboration is now even more straightforward: Improved permission management, optimized document handling, and cleaner context menus let your team focus on what matters.

Reliability and data protection

Many detailed improvements ensure awork remains a secure and reliable workspace for your team - with full focus on data protection and compliance.

13.05.25 - Calendar and time tracking come together, new bulk editing options, bookings without project reference, and timeline updates

Calendar and time tracking now in one view

Time tracking in awork has never been easier. By bringing together time entries and your calendar, you now have all your bookings and appointments in one place - right in your calendar.

  • See time entries directly in the calendar: Stay on top of things at all times: your time bookings are now displayed directly in the calendar. Just click on the time badge above the day or week to get a quick overview of all entries for that period.
  • Create time entries directly from calendar events: Log your work time even faster: use the context menu on synchronized calendar events to create a time entry directly from them. The event title is automatically added as a note - you can adjust the duration, task, or project anytime.
  • Create entries or tasks with drag and drop: Simply drag across the calendar to open the quick creator. Then choose whether you want to create a time entry or a task. Tasks are automatically scheduled - just like when you move them from your task list.
  • View time entries from other team members: Want to see what your team is working on? Simply select the team members you want and their time entries and calendar events will be displayed alongside your own. With the right permissions, you can even log time for others.

Bulk editing for subtasks

You can now select multiple subtasks - either individually or all under one parent task - and edit them together or assign them to a new parent task with just one click. Organize and update your projects faster and easier than ever before.

Book capacity in the planner without project reference

Want to block time before the project even exists? From now on, you can book capacity in the planner without assigning it to a project - perfect for early planning, placeholders, or internal tasks.

Improved UX for project and task timelines

Small but mighty: the project and task timelines (outside the planner) now also use the new, smoother timeline technology from the planner update. A small upgrade with a big impact.

09.05.2025 - awork Docs: Bring documentation and project work together in one tool

Project-related documentation

With awork Docs, you create project-related content like briefs, meeting notes, or client updates directly in the project - and can link them to tasks if needed. This keeps your knowledge flowing, everyone on the team (and your clients) has access to the same information - without switching tools.

Workspace-wide documentation

In addition to projects, you can also create central, workspace-wide documentation - for example, design guidelines, onboarding guides, or technical instructions. Thanks to the flexible folder structure, everything stays easy to find, current, and well organized.

Collaboration, formatting, sharing, and much more

Edit content together in real time, control access permissions precisely, and design your documents with the versatile editor exactly as you need them. Your Docs grow with you - structured, secure, and in the context of your work.

28.03.2025 - The new planner: Redesigned for reliable plans and happy clients

Clear layout for project and user overview

The split-screen view in the planner has been removed. Instead, there's now a separate project and user overview that you can switch between seamlessly. This gives you better visibility of your projects and lets you focus on the relevant information for capacity planning.

New project overview for more control and flexibility

Improved filter, sort, and grouping options provide clearer structure and help you keep all relevant projects in view. Customize the project sidebar individually to create the exact view that makes you most productive - complete flexibility without losing the big picture.

Improved project navigation to switch between planning levels

A new navigation menu makes it easier to navigate into and out of projects during planning. When you click on a project in the planner timeline, the new navigation opens, letting you dive directly into the task timeline or project users for detailed planning - or navigate to the full project outside the planner.

Planner checklist to spot risks early and respond immediately

The new, customizable checklist flags potential issues in your project plan, like upcoming deadlines, delayed tasks, or over/under-allocated team members. Perfect for your weekly planning meetings! You can generate the checklist anytime based on your active project view (including filters) and your chosen time period. Click any item to jump directly to that issue.

Bulk select tasks for efficient planning and replanning

The new bulk selection in the planner's project timeline makes it easier to plan and replan tasks. Activate bulk selection by clicking the cursor icon at the bottom of the screen. Select multiple tasks to move or edit them at the same time.

Editing options for projects in the planner timeline

Projects in the planner timeline can now be edited intuitively to adjust your project portfolio more easily. You can drag and drop projects to move them or adjust their duration - right in the project overview.

User availability data for quick task assignments

As you assign a task to team members, you can see their availability directly to ensure efficient workload distribution - without needing to open the planner.

Filter options for user tags when assigning tasks

When assigning tasks, you can now filter by tags like skills or qualifications to quickly find the right team members for your tasks.

Experimental AI to resolve overallocation

When team members are overloaded, affected tasks can be automatically rescheduled with the help of AI - an experimental feature designed mainly for smaller scopes. Open the user timeline, select the tasks you want to replan, and click "Autofix". Within seconds, the tasks are automatically rescheduled to create balanced workload while considering deadlines and capacities. You can also work with a prompt to give awork clear instructions on how to replan.

13.02.25 - Retainer budgets, improved automation for budget notifications, and new settings for greater budget precision

Retainer budgets for projects

Retainer budgets in awork let you set monthly recurring budgets for a project instead of using a single fixed budget. Team members can define an individual retainer period and decide whether and how unused or exceeded hours in one month affect the budget for the next month.

Retainer view in the project time tab

When a project has a defined retainer budget, you'll find the new retainer view in the project's time tab - in addition to general project KPIs. The new retainer charts give you a clear overview of the project's current and previous months. If you enable the option to carry over unused and/or exceeded hours, you'll also see how your monthly available budget is affected by the previous month.

Improved automation for budget notifications

The triggers for automations are now even smarter: in addition to notifications when a project's budget is fully used, you can now set up notifications based on specific budget values - whether it's a percentage, logged hours, or days.

Precise budget control with billable hours only

You now have the flexibility to choose what counts toward your project budgets: either all logged hours or billable hours only.

Customizable budgets in project templates

Templates now contain flexible budget values. This lets you create or modify budgets within a template.

30.01.25 - Desktop Tabs and a New Release Feed

Tabs for the Desktop App

The awork desktop app now supports opening and working with multiple tabs. This also includes new shortcuts that make using the awork app even more intuitive.

The New Release Feed in awork

There's a brand new release feed right inside awork! From now on, you can easily track all feature updates and improvements directly within the app. You'll get notified when changes happen and find all the information you need to get started with the latest updates right away.

2024

Time-Fries-Release 🍟 - 29.11.2024

Bar Charts in the "Time" View

The bar charts show you how much time was tracked and in what way for projects, users, or clients over time. You'll find them in the Times tab of a project, client, or user in the "Time" view. The bar charts let you flexibly group time spent by billability, activities, users, or projects and choose your time period between daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly views.

Line Charts for the "Recorded vs. Planned" View

The line charts visualize your project budget progress in relation to the work hours recorded. These charts are available in every project in the "Recorded vs. Planned" view. They're especially valuable for spotting trends or deviations early and responding accordingly. Showing the progress of the last six months and visualizing budget overruns with color changes help you effectively monitor your projects' financial framework.

Improved Search in Your Workspace

The search function in awork has been significantly improved to help you find information faster and more efficiently. The expanded view now displays more results at once, and your search coverage includes comments, notes, project descriptions, files, and task lists. Detailed hit displays, supported by tooltips, make it easier to find specific content. With increased result display of up to 40 entries and new navigation options like the "Tab" key for switching areas and the option to open results directly in a new tab, searching in awork is now even more intuitive and user-friendly.

New List View for Time Evaluations

The display of time evaluations in the "Time Evaluations" tab has been switched from a tile view to a list view to improve clarity. In the upper right area of the view, you'll now find sorting options by name and creation date as well as a search function that makes it easier to find specific evaluations. Additionally, an action menu next to each evaluation lets you share reports directly from the list view without having to open the individual evaluation.

Selectively Hiding Comments and Task Lists for External Connect Users

In projects shared via awork Connect with external users, you can now selectively hide both comments and task lists. Before sending a comment, you can hide it from external users, indicated by a red eye icon in the comment field that shows the comment isn't visible. Task lists work similarly: through a special action menu next to the list, you can completely hide them from external users, ensuring only relevant content is visible to them while protecting internal information.

New MOCO Integration

The new MOCO integration allows seamless transfer of project details and times between awork and MOCO. This lets you create projects directly in MOCO and then automatically sync all relevant information and time entries to awork, minimizing the need for manual data reconciliation.

New easyJOB Integration

The integration between easyJOB and awork syncs projects and tasks between the systems. This improves project management and automates time tracking, making your team more productive.

Holiday-Spritz-Release 🍹 - 14.10.2024

Regional Holidays in the Planner

Regional holidays can now be automatically considered in the planner and marked as "unavailable". These holidays are based on the regions assigned to your users. An admin sets up these regions and they're then available to all users in the account settings.

Workspace-Wide Absences

Admins can now define workspace-wide absences. These absences apply to all users or specific regions and are automatically considered in the Workload view.

Time Period Selection in the Workload View

The new time period selection lets you view your team's or a user's available capacity for a specific time period. After selecting a time period in the timeline, both individual and total team member capacity is displayed. The "Sort by Availability" sorting function lets you rank users by their free capacity, with the user with the most available capacity listed first.

Hide Completed Tasks

The "Show Done" button lets you toggle completed tasks on and off in the Workload view with just one click.

Improved View for Large Lists

Lists in awork dynamically adapt to your screen size and use the full available width to provide optimal display without zoom adjustments. Switching between wide-screen mode and compact mode happens automatically based on your browser window size.

Optimized Navigation

A new forward button improves navigation through recently accessed views in awork. Your navigation history is saved per window or tab and remains visible even when the sidebar is collapsed.

UI Improvements

The awork user interface has been optimized. Contrast in the timeline has been increased and names for long entries now scroll more smoothly. Week separator lines have been added to the timeline header to improve clarity.

Save Last Tab in Project Selection

When creating a project template, the last selected tab is saved and automatically opens the next time you use a template.

Recent Activity for Connect Users

In the Connect tab of Workspace settings, admins can now see in the new "Recent Activity" column when a user was last active in that workspace.

Support & Help Button

The "Support & Help" button is now in the top right of every workspace and gives you quick access to important resources. Clicking it opens a two-part popup: on the left side you'll see contact options for support, access to the awork Community, links to relevant documentation from the Help Center, and the release history. On the right side, context-relevant Help Center articles are suggested based on the area of awork you're currently using.

Custom Icecream Release 🍦 - 23.08.2024

Personalize Your Tasks with Custom Fields

In awork, you can create custom fields to integrate additional details directly into project tasks. This feature enables consistent and flexible use of details like text, numbers, checkboxes, selections, dates, or users. Fields are created workspace-wide and can be activated or deactivated in projects as needed. You can display fields as columns in task lists and use them as filter criteria. Custom fields are only available in Business or Enterprise plans. The Business plan allows up to 12 fields, while the Enterprise plan has no limit.

Sort Your Project Overview

awork Connect

With awork Connect, you can easily and free of charge share projects with external users. This allows you to benefit from genuine collaboration, direct communication, and simple information exchange with external users, whether they're clients, agencies, or freelancers. In the project details view, you'll find the Connect button to invite external users. After accepting the invitation, they become full members of the project and can view and edit tasks based on their permission role. Unlike internal users, external users only have access to the shared project from their own awork workspace and are not part of your workspace.

Guest Migration

With the introduction of awork Connect, you can now convert all existing guests in your workspace into external users. In rights management, you'll find a Connect button next to the respective guest users. After conversion, former guests can now be invited as external users to individual projects without becoming a permanent part of your awork workspace. Shared projects offer the same collaboration options as previous guest licenses. To save on guest license costs, simply remove them from your current awork plan.

Same-Domain Signup

Team members can join a workspace directly without needing an invitation. Once a team member registers with awork using the same email domain, that domain is recognized and automatically assigned to the existing workspace with the corresponding domain.

The New awork ✨ - 04.12.2023

awork Design Update

The release of the new awork is all about improving awork's core values for you (simple, fast, beautiful). By completely redesigning our design system and applying it to almost every part of the application, awork enters its next evolution.

Improved Design

Logical and thoughtful design rules now apply throughout the application. This helps you understand awork better and process information more easily. We've been able to improve the look and feel of the application and make working with awork faster and more enjoyable.

Improved Structure

This is achieved by overhauling the entire visual (and logical) appearance of the user interface (for example, standardizing navigation options in the new sub-navigation). The introduction of new customization options (like adding favorite projects, filters, and teams to your sidebar) lets you adapt the default structure to your individual needs. Providing the right information and navigation options for your individual workflows helps you get a better understanding and overview of whatever view you're currently in.

Improved Usability

Linking a feature to a specific design element (like a blue plus button in the top left) helps you quickly learn intuitive behavior and actions. By reducing complexity, we've cut down friction when using awork, making it faster and easier for you to understand.

Snack 🍩 - 21.08.2023

We've updated awork's notification emails and added missing information like project names, and made the subject line more appealing.

You can now copy lists, for example from your notes, into the subtask input field and awork automatically creates a subtask for each entry or line.

Performance Improvements

We've significantly improved awork search and planner load times. The workload overview should now load much faster and more smoothly, especially when using a Microsoft calendar integration.

New Tag Popup

Instead of the tag window, there's now a new and optimized tag popup. The popup now shows you your frequently used tags or all tags used in the project. This makes selecting the right tags much easier.

Of course, you can specify how many hours per week your colleagues actually work, so the workload is distributed across the work week.

You can also note planned vacations, sick leave, or absences, and these are naturally factored into the workload.

We thought the format "4d 5h 23m" was a bit long, so we optimized it. It now automatically shows hours (like 5:23h) or days (4.7d) depending on the value. Each user can also set their own preference.

Lots of Little Quality-of-Life Improvements πŸ’œ

The purple stopwatch now shows the task and project on mouse-over; time reports now have an all-time filter and 5-minute rounding; time selection has a quick "now" option; days in your time tracking weekly view are now clickable; task drag and drop is faster; tasks now show all followers; you can close search with ESC; task names display better in the timeline for shorter tasks; image cropping got better; various performance optimizations; jump directly to the team planner from the absence widget on your dashboard.

Export Timeline as PDF 🀩

You can now export your project timeline as a PDF. Share it with your client or add it to your next presentation.

Set Project Time Budgets

The new project time budget lets you set a budget for your entire project and track progress against it.

Start Timer from Dashboard

You can restart the timer from the action menu on any task, project, or time entry. This is especially handy on the dashboard or in search.

Mark Projects as Billable by Default

In project settings, you can mark a project as billable by default. All time logged to that project will automatically be pre-marked as billable.

Set Default Project Role

You can mark one of your project roles as the default in awork settings. This will be automatically selected when adding members to your project team.

Mention Project Team, Teams, or Entire Workspace in Comments

Use @project, @workspace, or a team name in project and task comments to notify larger groups of people.

When you edit an automation in project types, you can now apply those changes to all projects of that type.

Group Project Overview

The project overview finally has its own grouping feature! Group your projects by client, user, end date, or project type. πŸ’ͺ

Improvements Top to Bottom

Tons of little optimizations are waiting for you, like preventing accidentally sent notifications, improved drag behavior for tasks without lists, less frequent project team loading when assigning tasks, and comments now only send with Ctrl + Enter instead of Shift + Enter.

Alpaca πŸ¦™ - 22.11.2020

Individual User Capacity

Set weekly capacity for each user individually to better plan your team. The new capacity also automatically adjusts when the green circle for time tracking fills up.

Google Drive and OneDrive Integration

New Project Progress Widget

A new battery-style widget shows you how many tasks in your project are currently in each status. Add it straight to your dashboard.

Navigation Simplifications All Around

We've optimized awork's navigation in many small ways. Tasks now open in a window on the dashboard, task links are easy to copy and share, you can jump directly to a project or task from time tracking entries, project search now includes client names, files open with a single click, and more.

Nicer Login Area

We've cleaned up the login area. Prettier, more organized, and all the important info is easier to spot.

A Few Cool Little Touches

Duration input, like in time tracking, now accepts the 4:30 format for 4h 30m. The first day of the week now automatically adjusts based on your browser's regional settings. AND: We've hidden an Alpaca somewhere in awork. ;)

04.10. "All for the team"

Teams for your workspace

Create teams and assign users and projects to teams to restrict project visibility and manage larger numbers of users more easily.

More powerful task packages

Task packages have received an upgrade. You can now assign users or project roles directly in the templates, attach files, and much more.

Filter task views by status name

In task views or on your dashboard, you now have the option to filter by the name of a task status if you only want to see tasks in a specific status.

Edit dependencies in tasks

Task dependencies can no longer only be edited in the timeline, but are now available in the task details for all project tasks - even for tasks without a start and end date.

Better workload display

In team planning, hovering your mouse now shows the actual workload for users.

Small improvements

User profile settings have moved to the first tab of your profile, making them more accessible.

When you create another workspace, there's now a new intermediate step to avoid accidentally creating a new workspace.

πŸ’» Time tracking settings

New workspace settings allow you to restrict when time can be logged. For example, how far back into the past.

πŸ’» Login with Apple ID

You can now register and log in using your Apple ID. You can also link it to your Apple account later if you want.

πŸ’» Recommend awork and save money

Every successful referral (new contract with 12 or 24 month term) gives you a discount on your next invoice equal to the one-month value of the new contract. The referred person gets the same discount on their first invoice.

πŸ’» Tags 2.0

Tags now have free color choice, a cooler design, are renamable, and can be deleted. How cool is that then?!

πŸ’» OAuth 2.0 for Lexware Office integration

We've switched authentication for the Lexware Office integration to OAuth 2.0. From now on, an integration can only be set up via OAuth 2.0. Existing integrations will continue to work, though. A little bonus on the side: a newly created invoice via the Lexware Office integration now opens directly in edit mode.
