AI Credits and Usage

Your available AI Credits show how much AI usage is included in your plan. Actual usage depends on what an AI Agent or another AI feature is processing.

Your monthly AI credit allowance

AI Credits are technical units used to measure usage of certain AI features.

They have no monetary value and cannot be paid out or redeemed for money.

Your monthly allowance depends on your AI plan:

How credit usage is calculated

An AI action does not always use the same number of Credits. Usage may depend on factors including:

• AI model: Which model is used for processing

• Context: The scope and complexity of the information being processed

• Input and output: The amount of input and output

• Processing: The number and type of processing steps

• Tools and connections: The tool calls and external connections used

• Agent: The complexity and configuration of the Agent being used

That's why an Agent run does not automatically correspond to a fixed number of Credits.

Relative credit usage by model

In the AI model overview and when selecting a model in chat, we show how many Credits each model uses compared with our reference model, GPT-6.1 Sol. Other models may use fewer or more Credits by comparison.

Relative usage is shown when you select a model. Hover over the relevant information to see details about usage.

The following table provides a general guide to Agent threads using the reference model GPT-6.1 Sol. Actual usage depends on factors including the prompt, the selected reasoning level, the number of tools used and tool calls made, as well as other factors. The values shown are therefore estimates only.

View credit usage

Credit usage for the entire workspace

Open Einstellungen (the gear icon in the bottom left of the main menu). You can view detailed credit usage for individual AI threads under AI, in Nutzung & Aktivität. This includes the thread, the Agent used, the date and Credits used, a ranking of the highest credit users across different usage categories, and the total number of Credits used during a specific period.

Credit usage per user

Open Einstellungen (the gear icon in the bottom left of the main menu). Select User to open user management, where all workspace members are listed.

In the user table, the awork AI-Credits column shows the number of Credits each user has used during the current period, including the percentage of their available Credits. Hover over the progress bar to see the details. The date when the Credits will reset is also shown here.

The AI-Plan column shows each user's current AI plan and monthly Credits. To change the AI plan, click the dropdown arrow and confirm the change.

Your own credit usage

In Account-Einstellungen, under awork AI, you can see your AI-Plan (if an admin has subscribed to one) and your monthly credit allowance.

You can also see:

• Current credit usage as a percentage: Hover over the bar to see how many Credits you've used and how many remain in your allowance.

• The date of your next credit reset

You'll see a warning as you approach your limit.

Credit usage per project

You can view AI credit usage for a project directly in the project's AI-Tab des Projektes. You need read access to project details and AI access through the global permission role, with at least AI & Agents verwenden – ohne Teilen.

The overview shows:

• AI activity over the last three calendar months, regardless of the selected reporting period

• Total threads and credit usage during the selected period

• The top 5 credit users, grouped by Agent, user, provider, or model

Keep in mind that total project usage is not the same as your personal monthly credit allowance. The project view shows usage attributed to the project, while your personal allowance depends on your AI plan.

Credit usage per thread

1. Open an AI thread.

2. Open Details in the top right.

3. Verbrauchte Credits shows the total credit usage for the thread.

The total shown includes all participants in the conversation and delegated Agent tasks. It also includes any recorded usage from failed or canceled work.

What happens to unused Credits

Unused Credits expire at the end of the relevant monthly AI billing period.

Credits cannot be transferred between users or pooled across the workspace.

Credit allowance used up

With a paid AI plan

Reaching the credit limit of your subscribed AI plan does not completely disable AI. Instead, you switch to a limited mode. AI features are paused until the next monthly reset.

In this mode:

• More expensive models are disabled,
• More complex Agent features are limited,
• Certain advanced AI features are no longer available,
• A lower-cost model remains available for simple questions and tasks.

This means:

• AI Agents: Further runs are paused once your available credit allowance is used up

• AI Chat: Certain chat features remain available with reduced functionality and/or performance

If you also use up your allowance for limited usage, you won't be able to start new awork Agent runs. You'll be able to do so again once your allowance resets or an upgrade provides enough additional Credits. Runs that are already in progress may still finish.

If you use up your Credits, no additional Credits will be purchased automatically and no additional usage-based fees will be charged. A workspace admin can upgrade your AI plan.

Without an AI plan

Starting with the Standard plan, you also get a limited credit allowance and can use AI to a limited extent even without an AI plan. This includes access to the lowest-tier AI model, but you can't create your own agents or use advanced features such as tools, skills, and memory, or assign AI to projects or tasks.

You can use the awork Agent. This access starts directly in restricted mode. Once you've used up your included allowance, you can't start any new awork Agent runs until the next monthly reset.

A workspace admin can purchase an AI plan and assign it to you to give you access to more usage and your own agents.

Increase your credit allowance

An admin can upgrade a user to a higher AI plan at any time during the current billing period.

The upgrade generally takes effect immediately. The monthly reset remains tied to the existing AI billing period.

An upgrade doesn't simply start a new billing period. Any credits already used during the current period count toward the new allowance.

Changes to credit calculations

The way AI credits are calculated may change, for example as the models, providers, or AI features in use evolve.

If changes would significantly limit typical usage with your existing credit allowance, we'll let you know in advance. The changes will take effect no earlier than the start of the next monthly billing period.

FAQ

Are AI credits the same as tokens?

No. AI credits are the technical usage units used by awork. A fixed token count wouldn't be meaningful enough because models and agent configurations vary.

Do AI credits have a monetary value?

No. AI credits are purely technical usage units. They can't be paid out or redeemed for money.

Does every AI action use the same number of credits?

No. Usage depends on factors such as the model, context, input and output, processing steps, tools, and the complexity of the agent.

What happens if my credit allowance isn't enough?

An admin can upgrade a user to a higher AI plan at any time. If your allowance runs out, you won't be charged any additional fees automatically.

Can I check the credit usage for individual threads and agent runs?

Yes. You can see the total credit usage for a thread in the thread details, in the top right under Verbrauchte Credits. However, individual agent runs within a thread can't be tracked separately as distinct usage units.

How much AI credit usage is there when using skills?

There's no separate flat credit fee for skills. You're charged for the AI work the agent performs when using a skill. Usage depends on factors such as the model used, input and output, caching, conversation context, and processing steps. So the number of skills used alone doesn't determine credit usage. Standalone library skills and skills integrated into an agent don't inherently have different costs.
