The browser extension for awork allows you to track time with just one click, regardless of which tab you are in. All data is automatically synchronized with your awork account to ensure a seamless workflow. Switch effortlessly between tasks, tabs and tools without losing track of your time.

Details on the browser extension

Time tracking options

The browser extension gives you access to all of awork's essential time tracking options. The tracked times are transferred to your connected workspace in real time. The extension offers you the following time tracking functions:

  • Start and stop the timer for projects or tasks

  • Pause the timer

  • Discarding the timer

  • Setting times as billable or non-billable

Standard project

If you start the timer via the extension, the time is automatically booked to a selected project or task. If no project is selected, the default project that you have previously defined will be used.

To set the default project, click on "Open settings" in the top right-hand corner of the awork extension. Here you can select a project from your workspace. If you start the timer via the extension and no project is selected, the time is automatically recorded on the defined default project.

Timer integration

With the direct timer integration, you can display the classic awork timer in tools such as Github, Pipedrive, MOCO and helloHQ. Here you can stop, pause or discard the timer.

To display the timer in these tools, open "Settings" in the top right corner of the browser extension. Here you can see all the tools for which you can activate this timer integration. As soon as you select a tool with a checkmark, the integration is activated and you can use the awork timer on the corresponding page of the tool.

Open dashboard

Using the browser extension, you can navigate directly to your connected workspace via the "Open awork" button in the top right-hand corner.

Status of the browser icon

The awork icon for the browser extension has three different color statuses that show you whether the extension is active:

  • Gray awork icon: You are not logged into your awork account and are not tracking time.

  • Black awork icon: You are logged into your awork account and are not tracking time.

  • Purple awork icon: You are logged into your awork account and are currently tracking time.

  2. Click on "Add"

  3. Confirm the required permissions and click on "Add extension"

  6. Then log in to awork and select a workspace if you have several

  7. Now click on the awork icon in your extensions in the browser again to open and use the timer

Once connected, the extension remains permanently synchronized with your awork workspace. You can find more information about installing extensions in Chrome here.
