Notifications

In this article, you'll learn how to access and manage your notifications in awork. You'll discover what types of notifications are available and how to unsubscribe from notifications.

Notifications help you stay on top of important deadlines and keep you informed about updates.

Opening and viewing notifications

  1. Notification icon in the main menu
The notification icon is located at the bottom of the left navigation bar, in the footer area next to the gear icon. The bell symbol shows you with a badge how many unread notifications you have.
  2. Opening the notification panel
Click on the bell icon to open the notification panel. A floating window will appear showing you various information.
    • Upcoming deadlines
    • Your new projects
    • Your new tasks
    • Your new documents
    • Your new shared filters
    • Project news
    • Birthdays
  • Grouped notifications: Notifications about status changes for projects and tasks are displayed as collapsible rows. These summarize the status changes of tasks (visualized by colored icons) since the last read time for the project. Click the arrow icon to the right to expand the row and see all details.

  • For your new projects, new tasks, new documents, and new shared filters, you can directly turn off notifications through the notification panel or activate reminder functions (Remind me tomorrow, Remind me in one hour)

Marking notifications as read

  • Click the checkmark next to a notification: Mark as read
  • Within a group, you can use the double checkmarks to Mark all in this group as read
  • Using the double checkmarks in the bottom right corner of the notification popup, you can Mark all as read.

The notification popup for the bell doesn't have a view for already read entries.

Enabling or unsubscribing from notifications

Notification settings can be found in your Account Settings. You have two ways to get there:

  1. Click the gear icon in the notification popup (bell). The Notifications section will open automatically.
  2. Open Account Settings through your profile or the gear icon in the main menu and scroll to the Notifications section.

Enable or disable:

  • Automatically mark notifications as read when clicked

  • Automatically receive notifications for tasks you create (watching)

For each notification type, you can choose which channels you'd like to be notified through:

  • In the awork web application

  • Push notifications in the awork app for iOS or Android (not available for all notifications)

  • Email for direct delivery to your inbox

  • Slack for messages via the Slack integration (if connected)

Note: A user only receives a notification that they've been assigned a task once the project has been changed from Not started to In progress (yellow status). This allows a project to be planned in advance without triggering notifications.

Notifications for upcoming tasks and projects

Upcoming tasks

  • Notifies you about tasks due this week.
  • Notifies you about tasks due the next day.
  • On Friday, notifies you about tasks due over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

Upcoming projects

  • On Friday, notifies you about projects due in the coming week.

Email notifications are typically sent in the morning.

FAQ

Can I prevent notifications from being marked as read when I click on them?

Yes, you can. Open your Account Settings and scroll to the Notifications section. Here you can decide whether notifications should automatically be marked as read when clicked, or whether you'd prefer to mark them as read manually using the checkmark.

How do I disable email notifications?

Go to your notification settings (click the gear icon in the notification menu or open Account Settings). You can disable email notifications for each notification type.

I've disabled everything but I'm still getting emails. Why?

Some system emails, such as those for exports or automations, cannot be completely disabled and are sent regardless of your personal notification settings.
Also check whether it's the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from it using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.
