Zapier Integration

Use Zapier to connect awork with your other apps without having to manually copy and paste information back and forth.

Key Benefits and Use Cases

  • Send awork data to other apps whenever something happens in awork (via Zapier triggers)
  • Create items in awork from other apps (via Zapier actions)
  • Cover additional use cases with webhooks if the standard Zapier integration doesn't offer what you need

Automated workflows in Zapier are called "Zaps" and consist of a trigger and an action.

How the awork Zapier App Works

There's a dedicated awork app in Zapier with pre-built triggers and actions.

Trigger = something that happens in awork (example: a new time entry).
Action = something Zapier does in awork (example: create a task in awork).

Available triggers and actions:

Triggers

  • New task created
  • New time logged
  • Time entry updated

Actions

  • Create new project
  • Create new company
  • Create new project task
  • Create new customer

How to Set Up Your Own Zap

In Zapier, an automated workflow made up of a trigger and an action is called a "Zap".

Create Your First Zap from awork

  1. Go to Settings (gear icon in the bottom left of the main menu) > Integrations in awork
  2. Open the Integration Library and select Zapier from the API Connectors category
  3. Click Set up Integration to be taken to Zapier
  4. Create a Zapier account (Zapier offers a free version with the basic features you'll need). You can sign up with your email or Google account
  5. Follow the setup process in Zapier and select your apps
  6. In the Zapier editor, awork is already set up as a Zap connection. Click the gray plus icon to add the app you want to connect with awork
  7. Select the trigger and action events between awork and the other app
  8. Click Continue and sign in to your app accounts when prompted
  9. Confirm the setup and test it in Zapier
  10. Give your Zap a name and set it to Publish

How to Set Up Zapier Using awork Webhooks

If you want to send information from awork that isn't available by default in the awork Zapier app, use Zapier's webhooks integration.

Create a "Catch Hook" Trigger in Zapier

  1. Go to zapier.com and select Webhooks as your trigger
  2. Choose Catch Hook
  3. Copy the URL that Zapier displays
  4. Enter this URL into a webhook in awork. You'll find instructions for this here
  5. Add a filter in Zapier to specify what should trigger your Zap, for example the task status
  6. Continue with the Zap setup as described in the section above
