Sometimes you just need a quick copy — no formal template required. Duplicating a project copies its full structure into a new, standalone project in seconds.
Everything that defines how the project is set up — task lists, tasks, custom fields, automations, and budget target — comes along by default. Before you confirm, you choose what else to include: members, assignees, task statuses, documents, and files can each be kept or reset independently.
The result is a clean copy you can start working in right away, with no link back to the original.
When to use project duplication
Starting a new client project that follows the same delivery process as an existing one
Repeating a campaign or service with a consistent task structure
Using a live project as a quick ad-hoc template when a formal template isn't needed
How to duplicate a project
To duplicate a project, you need write access to the project and the right to create projects in your workspace.
Open the context menu on any project where you have writing rights (three-dot menu)
Select Duplicate.
Choose which optional content to reset.
Confirm with "Duplicate"
The new project is named "[Original Name] (Copy)" and can be renamed at any time.
Depending on the size of the project, duplication may take a moment. Larger projects with many tasks, files, or documents can take a little longer before all content is fully available.
What's always copied
The following is always included in every duplicate:
Task lists and tasks (including descriptions and checklists)
Custom fields, custom field values and tags
Planned effort and task dependencies
Recurrence rules
Automations
Budget
What you can choose to reset
Before creating the duplicate, you can independently reset each of the following. All default to keep (i.e. they are duplicated unless you choose otherwise):
Project members
Task assignees
Task status
Documents
Files
What's never copied
Task and project comments
Tracked time
Connect users (external collaborators)
Calendar bookings and scheduled time blocks on tasks
💡 If you're viewing your projects with an active filter (e.g. by status), the duplicate may not appear immediately — it might not match the current filter criteria. Clear or adjust the filter if you can't find it.
